Palermo capital of Sicily fell to the Allies on July 22nd. Meanwhile the eighth army fights its way forward in the east of the island. More than forty thousand prisoners have been taken already in the Sicilian Campaign, and every day fresh batches are escorted to the ports. Picture shows: Italian troops waving white flags, surrendering to British Infantry.
