Scope and Content

The engines of every bomber which takes part in the mass raids on Germany are carefully inspected immediately before a raid. These inspections are carried out while the engines are turned over. Great care is taken by mechanics to avoid the slipstream from the propellors blowing them off the wings. Picture shows: Mechanics adjusting motors of a Stirling bomber before a Berlin raid. Note the strange gyrations of the propellers, obtained by using a slow shutter speed.
