Scope and Content

Labelled on the front fly-leaf, in the hand of Sir James Mann: 'Fred Weeke's scrapbook, presented by F.H. Cripps-Day, 1942'. The fly-leaf also has the ownership signature of 'R.A. Labouchere, Paris, 1835' and a presentation note in German to Natalie Mallet, from RAL, dated 10e Avril, 1839,

This scrapbook contains tracings and drawings by several hands and of several dates. The majority of tracings appear to be from French sources, and dated about 1835. There is however a group of drawings of armour, dated 'Tower of London 10 May, 1835' and some sketches of tombs, etc. in Westminster and Canterbury. Also a sketch of the lashing of a ship's gun. Towards the middle of the book is a group of drawings of armour, signed with Fred Weekes' monogram or in full, some dated at the Tower, either Jany. or May, 1859, One sketch of a chanfron signed by Ernest Crofts is preseumably a later insertion
