Scope and Content

Two scrapbooks labelled 'Montmorency Armours' on spine. Includes some correspondence, drafts, original photographs, research notes and the final print of the privately printed pamphlet by F.H. Cripps-Day, 'The Wilton Controversy; a sur-rebutter' (Frome, 1926),

Vol. 95 includes a note on the fly leaf: 'The only value of this volume is the note by Kelly on St. Quentin. F.H.C.D., 25/11/49'. Contains:

1. This comprises 27 ff. of a handwritten account of 'The Somme Campaign of 1557' by FMK,
2. 18 pp of mss. notes in an unidentified hand of extracts from printed records,
3. 'Zwei weitere Montmorency-Harnische', by Francis H. Cripps-Day, extracted from Zeitschrift fur Historische Waffen- und Kostumkunde (1927), pp. 160-168, with extra photographs,
4. A letter to the Editor of the Burlington Magazine from Charles ffoulkes on 'The Wilton Suits', dated September 14th 1917, commenting on letters from the Baron de Cosson and F.M. Kelly on ffoulkes' own discussion of the Wilton suits,
5. A disbound typescript of an article on 'The Armours of the Montmorencys',
6. Engraved portrait of 'Henricus II Gallorum Rex', Vol. 95 7. Series of British Museum Library book requisitions in the name of FHCD. The majority dated 1925 and 1926
