Administrative / Biographical History

Rolf H Muller, an internationally known gemologist, was born in Cologne, Germany. His lifelong interest in weapons, especially their history and technology, was enhanced by his service as an officer in the Wehrmacht during World War II. After the war he settled in Kirschweiler near Idar-Oberstein, the most important gemstone and jewelry fabricating centre in Germany, where he conducted his business of dealing in gemstones and the manufacture of jewelry until his death in 1992.

In the 1950s, his interest in arms became concentrated primarily on the researching and collecting of European military revolvers. During the following thrity-five years, Herrr Muller travekked around the world compiling one of the finest, largest and most comprehensive collections of European military revolvers ever assembled.

Rolf Muller's exhaustive research and tireless collecting culminated in his authorship of the two-volume set Geschichte und Technik der europaischen Militarrevolver, published in 1982 by the Journal Verlag, which hs become the authoritative work on the subject.
