Scope and Content

The object of this work is primarily to give the more general details of the construction and fittings of L 33 as being an example of the so-called 'Super-Zepelin'. At the same time it was thought advisable to extend the scope of the book and to make comparisons, where needful, between the various types of SchutteLanz and Zeppelin practice; to include the available informaiton on personnel and training of crews, and on any other matters closely relating to the handling and navigation of German rigid airships, The work is the result of close co-operation between this Division and the Technical Departments of the Director of Air Services, Superintendent of Compasses, Director of Naval Construction, Engineer-in-Chief, Superintendent Electrical Engineer, and the Intelligence Section of G.H.Q., Home Forces, and is principally based on the actual examination of parts of the following airships: L 15, L 31, L 32, L33, L 34, LZ 77, LZ 85 and SL 11 [From the preface], Lacks twelve large folding plates issued issed in a separate packet
