Scope and Content
A proposed contract for Brass Guns, dated 16th January, 1682, The contract for these guns was ordered to be made in 18th January 1682/3 (Ordnance Minute Book WO 47/13/p8) and Robert Butler's bill for ú23 14s 3d was entered 13th July 1683, when the guns are noted as being 'for the yacht ffubbs'. The Minute Book entry includes a note that the guns were to be turned, but does not mention the fact that Captain Leake's model was to be used, Extracted from an Ordnance contract book. Containing the 'Proposalls of Robt. Butler on behalf of his Mats. Gunfounder' for casting 6 Brass Petareroes, 34 Chambers and 6 Brass 3 pounders, Annotated below with a note to ask Mr. Butler to come into the office to discuss the extract, and, in another hand, an order that the contract be drawn up for casting the above guns 'to be all Turned Compleat according to Capt. Leakes Moddell'
