The letter concerns the method of dealing with two labourers guilty of having stolen some white rope from His Majesty's Stores at Portsmouth, ordering that the Master Furbisher there is on no account to 'permit any beer or liquor of any sort to be brought into the Armoury' and mentioning a plan to move the Armoury 'into the Gun Wharfe', Written on three pages in a secretary's hand and corrected in the same hand. Signed 'Richmond, Master General', addressed 'To the Respective Officers of the Ordnance, Portsmouth' and dated 'Goodwood, September 11th 1784'.
