Scope and Content

A warrant authorising an imprest of £40 for the building of a gate and a drawbridge from the Tower to the Wharf, Signed Jo. Berkeley and Duncombe, addressed to 'Collo. Wm. Legge, Lt. Generll. of his Mats Ordnance', authorising an imprest of £40 to James Lloyd , Mason, for the 'makeing and workeing of a New gate in the Tower.

Dated 16 April, 1667, and based on a Royal Warrant, dated 21 March, 18 Charles II, authorising the 'openinge the outward and inward Wall of the Tower on the Southside thereof and a Bridge and Gate to be made & placed there for the more convenient bringing in of Powder.'
