Lieutenant Colonel Godfrey Kindersley Maurice was a surgeon, commissioned in the Royal Army Medical Corps (TF) in 1912, and served with the 3rd Division in France throughout the First World War. After the war he took a regular commission, retiring in 1931 after service in Egypt and the Sudan. He rejoined in 1939 and served in North Africa during the Second World War
