Scope and Content

With an introductory note by Charles ffoulkes, dated 24th August 1938, 'The documents of which this is a photostat were given to me by Viscount Dillon who had received them from General Abdy. With them were some rough notes which suggested that they had been used by Captain Orde Browne for compiling the Rotunda Catalogue.', 'They include letters and lists from Lieutenant Colquhoun who was sent by the Duke of Wellington to choose items of military interest from the Artillery Museum in Paris after it had been found that the Prussians were taking similar pieces.', 'As the original documents seemed to have come from the Rotunda, I returned to that Museum in 1928 all the correspondence.', 'In the previous year many of the pieces which had come from Paris had been transferred from the Rotunda to the Tower.', 'The numbers in black refer to the Rotunda catalogue, and those in red to the Armouries at the Tower.'
