Contained in a modern box. An explanatory note on a separate sheet of paper reads: 'Dessins des pieces de la collection de Monsr. de Mayfisch dont je desirerais faire l'acquisition. En cas d'affaire il faudrait, je [prie/pense], me renvoyer les dessins en mettant sur chacun l'indication du prix demand^D'e', The only reference found to the Mayfisch Collection is to an illustration in J. von Hefner-Alteneck's, Tracten des christlichen Mittelalters III (Mannheim, 1840-44), plate 84, which shows a sword in the collection of Mr. Carl von Mayenfisch drawn by the owner. This sword is that shown in the four drawings numbered '14' in this collection.
